GB Movers
was established in 1969 by Greg Brown father of the
present proprietor James Brown. Greg used his experience
gained during a gap break prior to college with North
American van lines 'Denver Colorado' when establishing
his removal business. The American system of packing
consists of packing literally everything into a box
or barrel. This supposedly by British standards excessive
use of packing material almost eliminated damages
and hugely increased customer satisfaction. A modified
style of US packing was put in place coupled with
continental practice of using removal trucks with
padded interiors produced similar results. The introduction
of these alien practices by GB in the early seventies
proved instrumental in the success of GB Movers.
GB established itself as only a handful of English
firms providing a frequent guaranteed removal service
to Spain, GB capitalised on this by becoming the only
English removal firm to have its own depot on the
Costa Del Sol by purchasing a major share of an established
Spanish removal company in 1985 and renaming it Marbella
moving.
In the mid-eighties Spanish roads were notoriously
bad and GB was the first to introduce the most sophisticated
UK road train at that time on the road in 1986. Boasting
five axels (four on air) ABS brakes, telma retarder
and a capacity of 100 cubic metres dwarfing the competition.
GB was now collecting from all over England and
departing every two weeks for Marbella. Those heady
days have certainly eased with UK population now choosing
properties in other destinations apart from Spain.
Whilst Spain is currently enjoying a resurgence in
popularity wherever you are moving to, GB are happy
to quote for any destination worldwide. You can still
speak to its founder Greg Brown. We will provide you
with a no nonsense approach and an all in quotation
including the GB price promise - "The price we
quote is the price you pay", and a removal service
that is second to none.
Totally family owned you can be assured GB is going
to be around for another 35 years. Whilst the office
is still run from the original 1969 site Oakley Green
Farm in Windsor, vehicles and warehousing are now
based at two wholly owned industrial units based in
Slough and High Wycombe.
Whilst we are rightly proud of our Royal Windsor
Castle connection, all customers receive a top quality
service whether moving within the UK or across the
World.
